Getting started
What is a 360° virtual tour?
An interactive set of 360° photos of a place, linked room to room, that someone can look around in their browser as if they were standing there. In 3D Nova each 360° photo is a scene, and the arrows that take you from one scene to the next are hotspots.
What do I need to make a tour?
Equirectangular 360° images (a 2:1 picture that wraps all the way around). Any consumer 360° camera makes them, for example Ricoh Theta, Insta360 or GoPro Max, and so do rendering programs such as SketchUp, 3ds Max, Revit, Blender and Unreal Engine.
How do I create my first tour?
Open the builder. You can start before signing up. Upload your 360° images, one per room, place arrows on the doors to connect the rooms, add your logo and a cover if your plan includes them, then press Publish. You are asked to make a free account when you save or publish.
Do viewers need an app or an account?
No. A tour opens in any browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Viewers do not need an app or an account.
Taking good 360° photos
Where should I put the camera?
In the middle of the room at standing eye level, about 1.5 m from the floor, on a tripod or monopod. Keep the same height in every room so walking through feels natural.
How do I get good light?
Shoot in daylight, open the curtains and switch on the lamps that make the room look its best. Avoid mixing strong window light with harsh ceiling lights.
What should I tidy before shooting?
Everything. A 360° photo shows every corner, so clear the counters, hide cables and remove personal items and photos.
Can I fix the photos afterwards?
Yes. The builder includes basic retouching and colour adjustment for your scenes, on every plan.
Building the tour
What are hotspots?
Clickable points inside a scene. A navigation hotspot moves to another scene, like walking through a door. An info hotspot shows text and a picture. Video and sound hotspots play a clip. You can also place text directly in a scene.
Can 3D Nova connect the rooms for me?
Yes, on Pro and above. Auto-place puts the navigation hotspots in for you, and you can move or remove any of them.
How do I add a floor plan?
On Pro and above, upload a floor plan image (JPG or PNG), place a pin on each room and link each pin to its scene. Viewers tap a room on the plan to jump there.
Can I add normal photos and music?
Yes. A photo gallery shows flat photos alongside the 360° scenes. Background music is on Business and Team.
How do I brand a tour?
On Pro and above, add your logo and a cover page, and the 3D Nova watermark is removed. Team removes 3D Nova branding everywhere and lets you use your own domain.
Publishing and sharing
How do I share a tour?
Press Publish, then copy the link or download the QR code. Send it by email, WhatsApp or social media, or put it on your website.
Can I embed a tour on my website?
Yes, on the Team plan. On other plans, link to the tour from your site.
How do I make a tour private?
On Business and Team, switch on password protection in the tour settings. Anyone who opens the link is asked for the password first.
Does it work in VR?
Yes. Every tour has a VR mode that uses the phone’s motion sensor, so it works in a phone headset such as Google Cardboard, and in headsets like Meta Quest through the browser.
How many tours can be published at once?
Basic: 1 at a time (3 tours in total). Pro: all 25. Business and Team: unlimited.
Leads and analytics
How does lead capture work?
On Business and Team you can switch on a short form inside a tour. When a visitor sends it, you get their details and a notification.
What do the analytics show?
How many times a tour was opened, visitors’ countries and devices, how long they stayed and which scenes they looked at. Pro has basic analytics, Business advanced and Team premium.
Account and billing
How do I upgrade?
In your dashboard, open Subscription and choose a plan. Payments are handled by Polar; 3D Nova never sees your card.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, from Subscription. You keep your paid features until the end of the period you paid for, then your account moves to Basic.
Do you give refunds?
Yearly plans: within 30 days of the payment, in full. Monthly payments are not refunded, but you can cancel anytime. See the Terms.
Can several people work on the same tours?
Yes. The Team plan has 5 seats. For agencies with many agents, see Nova+.
